Deck Building in Marina del Rey
Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Marina del Rey is one of the areas we work in most.
We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.
Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Marina del Rey is unincorporated Los Angeles County, so permits run through LA County rather than a city department — a detail that surprises people who assume it works like Venice next door.
It is also about as corrosive an environment as we build in. Constant salt air, high humidity off the water, and hardware that has to be specified for it. Stainless throughout, and we do not compromise on that here.
Most of the work is balconies, second-story decks and roof decks rather than ground-level builds, given the density. On anything over living space the waterproofing assembly is the job — framing, plywood substrate, membrane and decking built as one thing, so there is a single point of responsibility when water shows up. Balcony repair is a steady part of what we do here for the same reason: assemblies from the eighties and nineties are reaching the end of their service life.
Marina del Rey is inside the Coastal Zone, and a coastal development permit may apply alongside the county permit depending on the work.
For materials, PVC and hardwood both handle the marine environment well. Composite boards with wood content are the weaker choice this close to the water.
