Deck Building in San Marino
Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and San Marino is one of the areas we work in most.
We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.
Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.
We work directly for homeowners and as a deck subcontractor for general contractors and architects. If you are managing a rebuild and need someone who can read a fire-zone material schedule, that is us.

Building decks in San Marino
San Marino is a small city with large lots and an unusually careful approach to what gets built on them. Design review is a genuine part of the process here, and the city's standards for exterior work are stricter than most of its neighbors.
That shapes the work. Decks here tend to be integrated into established gardens rather than dropped into them, and the material choices lean traditional. Hardwood, real timber pergolas with proper joinery, railing that suits the architecture. A lot of the housing stock is period, and a stock composite system with a catalog railing tends not to survive review or suit the house.
Lots are generally flat and generous, so the structural demands are modest next to hillside work. The interesting problems here are design problems. How a deck meets an existing garden, where a pergola sits relative to mature trees, how a patio cover reads against the house.
Tree preservation matters. Properties often have significant mature specimens, and their protection zones affect where footings can go.
San Marino runs its own building department.
