Deck Building in Rolling Hills Estates

Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Rolling Hills Estates is one of the areas we work in most.

We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.

Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Rolling Hills Estates

Building decks in Rolling Hills Estates

Rolling Hills Estates is the horse-country side of the peninsula. Larger lots, mature trees, a lot of properties backing onto bridle trails and canyon, and a different character of outdoor space from the bluff-top cities nearby.

The work here skews toward ground-level and low-elevation decks, pergolas and patio covers, and fencing and gates that have to coexist with equestrian access. Larger lots also mean more landscape-integrated work. Timber staircases down a slope, seating built into a deck edge, structures that sit in the yard rather than against the house.

The canyon terrain brings brush exposure, and parts of the peninsula carry fire hazard severity zone designations. Where that applies, California's wildfire-zone rules govern the walking surface. They were consolidated into the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code in January 2026, replacing Chapter 7A and Section R337, and the requirement is a California State Fire Marshal listing rather than a manufacturer's flame-spread claim. TimberTech AZEK Vintage and Landmark are both listed Class A, and so is Kayu Batu.

The city has its own building department, and tree preservation is taken seriously on properties with mature specimens near a build.

Redwood and Douglas fir pergolas suit this setting, and we build them with real joinery. Heavy posts and beams, corbel end cuts, not a kit.
