Deck Building in Redondo Beach

Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Redondo Beach is one of the areas we work in most.

We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.

Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Building decks in Redondo Beach

A good share of what we do in Redondo Beach is balcony repair, and that isn't an accident. There's a lot of multi-unit and condominium stock here from the seventies and eighties, and those balconies are at the age where the waterproofing has failed even when the surface still looks fine.

California's balcony inspection laws, SB 326 for condominiums and SB 721 for apartments, put deadlines on exterior elevated elements, which is why a lot of buildings are getting looked at now rather than later. When an inspection turns something up, the repair is usually the assembly rather than the boards. Framing that has taken water, a membrane past its life, and a surface that has to come off to get at either.

We do the whole assembly. Structural repair where it's needed, new waterproofing, and the deck surface back on top. One company responsible for the part that keeps water out.

The salt environment argues for stainless hardware throughout, and for PVC or hardwood over wood-content composite.

Redondo Beach runs its own building department, and parts of the city fall inside the Coastal Zone. Worth checking which side a property is on before design.
