Deck Building in Studio City
Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Studio City is one of the areas we work in most.
We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.
Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Studio City
Building decks in Studio City
Studio City hillside lots are some of the more interesting decks we build. The streets climbing south off Ventura toward Mulholland are steep, the lots are often narrow, and the usable outdoor space usually has to be built rather than found.
That means elevated construction. Engineered post-and-beam framing, footings sized for the slope, and a waterproofed assembly wherever the deck sits over living space. Access can be genuinely difficult on some of these streets, and that's a real cost line rather than something to discover on day one.
Parts of the hillside area fall inside fire hazard severity zones, where the walking surface has to carry a California State Fire Marshal listing under the Wildland-Urban Interface Code, the code that replaced Chapter 7A and Section R337 in January 2026. TimberTech AZEK Vintage and Landmark are both listed Class A with no conditions, and Kayu Batu is as well.
Down in the flats it's more conventional. Ground-level decks, pergolas and patio covers, outdoor kitchens.
Cable and custom steel railing come up often on the hillside work, for the obvious reason. We fabricate both in-house, so a railing gets made for the deck rather than adapted to it.
