Deck Building in Tarzana

Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Tarzana is one of the areas we work in most.

We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.

Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Tarzana

Building decks in Tarzana

Tarzana is home. Our office is on Oxnard Street and a good share of our work happens within a few miles of it.

The neighborhood splits into two building environments. North of Ventura is largely flat. Deep lots, mature trees, and room for ground-level decks, pergolas and outdoor kitchens that make use of the space. South of Ventura the ground climbs toward the Santa Monica Mountains, and the hillside lots up toward Mulholland need a different approach entirely. Engineered post-and-beam framing, real footings, and often a waterproofed assembly where a deck sits over living space.

Parts of that southern hillside band fall within fire hazard severity zones. Where they do, California's wildfire-zone rules apply to the walking surface. Those moved into the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code in January 2026, replacing Chapter 7A and Section R337, and the requirement is a State Fire Marshal listing rather than a flame-spread claim off a brochure.

Permits run through LADBS. Valley heat is its own material consideration. Dark composite boards get uncomfortably hot underfoot in a Tarzana August, which is worth knowing before you pick a color. Lighter PVC and hardwood both run cooler.
