Deck Building in Thousand Oaks
Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Thousand Oaks is one of the areas we work in most.
We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.
Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.
We work directly for homeowners and as a deck subcontractor for general contractors and architects. If you are managing a rebuild and need someone who can read a fire-zone material schedule, that is us.

Building decks in Thousand Oaks
Thousand Oaks is the western edge of where we work, and we do go there. It sits in Ventura County rather than Los Angeles County, so permits run through a different jurisdiction and the Ventura County Fire Protection District has its own requirements alongside the city's.
The area carries real fire exposure. Woolsey came through the corridor in 2018, and much of the surrounding hillside falls within fire hazard severity zones. Where that applies, California's wildfire-zone rules govern the deck walking surface. Those were consolidated into the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code in January 2026, replacing Chapter 7A and Section R337, and the standard is a California State Fire Marshal listing rather than a manufacturer's flame-spread claim. TimberTech AZEK Vintage and Landmark are both listed Class A with no conditions, and so is Kayu Batu.
A good share of what we do out here is waterproofing and repair rather than new build. Second-story decks, balconies and landings where the assembly underneath has failed and the surface is only the symptom. We rebuild the whole thing. Framing repair where it's needed, new waterproofing, then decking.
Oak preservation is taken seriously in Thousand Oaks, and protected trees affect where footings can go.
