Deck Building in Sherman Oaks
Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Sherman Oaks is one of the areas we work in most.
We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.
Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Building decks in Sherman Oaks
Sherman Oaks is two neighbourhoods stacked on top of each other as far as decks are concerned. The flats north of Ventura are straightforward — good-sized lots, ground-level work, pergolas and patio covers doing most of the heavy lifting against the summer heat.
South of Ventura, up into the hills toward Mulholland, it changes completely. Those lots drop away behind the house, and the deck becomes the backyard. That means engineered post-and-beam framing, new footings, and frequently a waterproofed assembly over living space below. Cable railing does well up there because the view is usually the reason the deck is being built.
Parts of the hillside band sit inside fire hazard severity zones. Where they do, the deck surface has to come from a product with a California State Fire Marshal listing under the Wildland-Urban Interface Code that took over from Chapter 7A in January 2026.
We also do a steady amount of repair work in Sherman Oaks — hillside decks built twenty and thirty years ago that need footings, sistered framing or new waterproofing rather than replacement. Where a repair will do the job, we say so.
