Deck Building in Los Angeles

Danny Deck Construction has been building and repairing decks across Los Angeles since 1995, and Los Angeles is one of the areas we work in most.

We build custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu, composite and PVC decks in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK, and the structural work underneath them: new footings, engineered post-and-beam framing, and waterproofed assemblies over living space. We fabricate our own stainless cable railing and custom steel railing, so the railing fits the deck rather than the other way around.

Alongside decks we build pergolas and patio covers, wood fences and gates, deck stairs and landings, and we repair and refinish existing decks that are worth saving rather than replacing. If a repair will do the job we will say so.

Building decks across Los Angeles

We've been building decks in Los Angeles since 1995, and the city throws up about every condition a deck can face. Hillside lots in the Santa Monica Mountains, flat lots in the Valley, rooftop and second-story work in the denser neighborhoods, and a growing amount of rebuild work in the fire zones.

Permits for most of the city run through LADBS. Hillside properties carry additional requirements, and anything in a designated fire hazard severity zone now falls under the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code, which replaced Chapter 7A of the building code and Section R337 of the residential code in January 2026. In those areas the deck surface has to carry a California State Fire Marshal listing. TimberTech AZEK Vintage and Landmark are listed Class A, Kayu Batu too, Ipe through specific suppliers only, and Trex Enhance isn't listed at all.

What we actually do: custom hardwood decks in Ipe, Mangaris and Kayu Batu. Composite and PVC in Trex, TimberTech and AZEK. Hillside and elevated framing with engineered footings. Second-story, balcony and rooftop decks with full waterproofing assemblies. Cable and custom steel railing we fabricate ourselves. Pergolas and patio covers. Fences and gates. And deck repair and refinishing where a rebuild isn't warranted.
